It's worth it when your business processes are so specialised that off-the-shelf software cannot accommodate them. In that case, customising a ready-made solution would cost more than building a new system. Custom software can also give you an edge, because it does something your competitors' systems don't.
If your business runs mostly on standard processes (invoicing, inventory, CRM, HR) and doesn't need extensive customisation, Odoo is an excellent, cost-effective choice. We build the back end in Go (Golang), which is exceptionally fast and efficient, especially for high-load systems. The front end is built on React for a modern, responsive user interface. We use PostgreSQL as the database, and the infrastructure runs on Kubernetes on AWS or Google Cloud.
A core system (a few main modules) is usually ready in 3-6 months. A complex, complete business management system can take 6-12 months. We work in agile iterations, so parts of the system become usable during development.
